Corporate governance continues to develop in the Middle East

The Middle East and more particularly the countries that go to make up the Gulf Co-operation Council is one of the fastest developing regions in the world. Growth, which was originally driven by the energy sector, is broadening to include developments in the infra structure, financial services, commercial and industrial sectors. Whilst sovereign wealth funds are the source of substantial investment, the region is benefiting from inward investment as it increasingly becomes an integral part of the global economy.

Adopting western standards of corporate governance is widely perceived as a necessary part of this development process. Whilst there is still substantial work to be done, regulatory bodies are emerging and government institutions and companies are developing their internal audit, risk management, compliance, legal and security functions.

The region currently offers a diverse range of opportunities in corporate governance with many start up and development opportunities. Barclay Simpson has over 15 years experience of recruitment in the Middle East and actively recruits in Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar and the UEA which includes both Abu Dhabi and Dubai where Barclay Simpson has a local office.

Our consultants are highly experienced in handling assignments in the region, right the way through from initial definition of the skill set required through to the management of the logistical details of relocation, language and cultural issues.
